I find some really great writing in random comments on the internet.
A well-written, clear, and entertaining comment is charming. But even poorly written comments (bad grammar and spelling) can delight if the substance is compelling. And that’s what makes comments on the internet so interesting.
You often get to hear from people with professional or other experience and expertise that you otherwise wouldn’t come in contact with. These are people who aren’t professional writers or otherwise prolific and their comment may be the only thing you ever hear from them.
Here’s one I enjoyed recently. It’s a comment on an interview with John Carreyrou. He wrote the book “Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup” about the rise and collapse of Theranos.
